During the hearing, Piyu Padi's attorney, Singgih Tomi Gumilang, emphasized that Ariel and his colleagues' arguments ignore the systemic structure of the Copyright Law, which is structured in a hierarchical and interconnected manner.
"The articles being challenged are not separate articles within the legal system, but rather a unified whole that forms the copyright protection ecosystem in the Republic of Indonesia," Singgih said.
Therefore, he firmly requested that the Constitutional Court accept Piyu Padi's entire statement and declare that the articles challenged by Ariel and his colleagues are in accordance with the country's constitution.
For information, Ariel, along with 28 other musicians, is conducting a judicial review of Copyright Law No. 28 of 2014.
